Frequently Asked Questions
How long will an appointment take?
The appointment will take between 15-30 minutes. Sometimes a little longer, sometimes shorter, depending on what your body needs to resolve the dysfunction that we find.
How many visits will I need?
That depends on the degree of dysfunction, the length of times it has been like that and how well you follow our advice in between visits. ACC says that most sprains and strains will take 16 visits for Chiropractors and Physiotherapists to resolve. Our clinic averages 4 visits, the NZ Chiropractic profession as a whole averages 8 visits.
Should I get adjusted if I'm not in pain?
Pain is a terrible indicator of function. Pain is the last thing to arrive and the first thing to leave. Being out of pain does not mean you are back to full function. Function is much better determined by range of motion, strength, endurance, comfort or sensation, than by pain. Pain medication can stop the feelings of pain, but do you think anything else has changed?
Will my adjustment hurt?
Our Chiropractors use gentle low force techniques that very rarely cause any discomfort and often the relief is instant. The adjustments are specific and very effective in not only reducing pain but increasing function, strength and range of motion.
What techniques do we use?
Each Chiropractor at Garden City Health has many techniques available to them, including Diversified (Manual), Thompson Drop Table, S.O.T, Activator, Craniosacral and Neuromuscular Therapy. Each patient is evaluated thoroughly to diagnose their issue(s) and determine the appropriate technique to bring them the most benefit.
How do I know I need to see a Chiropractor?
Everyone, regardless of age or condition, can benefit from a fully functioning nervous system. It is most common to think of seeing a Chiropractor for back or neck pain, or headaches. At Garden City Health, we don’t treat symptoms. We remove whatever obstructions we find and allow your body to do what it does best, heal, recover and thrive.
